NEW DOESN’T MEAN PERFECT – BUILDING A NEW HOME

As one of our SEO clients, Wiemann Home Inspection, specializes in providing one of the best home inspection services in Des Moines, Iowa.

Here are some great tips from their blog:

Building a new home? It’s common to think that you don’t need an inspection. After all, you had the house built from scratch and customized to your exact needs and likes. No one else has lived there, and no time has passed for anything to break or go wrong. Wouldn’t a home inspection waste your limited time and money?

That depends on how you look at it. A home inspection can provide valuable insights into the home’s construction, plus it’s a last chance to prevent expensive repairs on the home later down the road. For others it seems like just another expense on an already expensive project.

We often find some recurring issues when inspecting new homes.

  • Structural defects, improper grading and poor framing
  • Drainage issues that could lead to water and structural damage later on
  • Window leaks
  • HVAC issues including malfunctioning thermostats
  • Electrical problems and things like improperly wired outlets and open grounds
  • Plumbing issues

We also often find incomplete projects. For the most thorough inspection we recommend coming into the home three different times: pre-insulation, pre-drywall, and a week before your final walk through with the builder. For an average cost of $325 on a new home inspection, it’s well worth the additional cost to give you, the buyer of a newly constructed home, peace of mind.
